Located in the heart of Montecasino, Verdicchio Restaurant and Wine Cellar celebrates its 20th birthday.
Since opening its doors on 30 November 2000, this establishment has consistently delighted guests with exquisite dishes and top-of-the-range wines.
The Tuscany-themed Verdicchio Restaurant and Wine Cellar has always been a favourite with couples and families who enjoy a unique dining experience.
A Diamond Award winner in the Diners Club International Wine List category from 2009 to 2019, Verdicchio has been praised for its extensive wine collection. The collection of over 400 different wines, including 35 international wines, mean that aficionados are spoilt for choice.
Also, the restaurant has won the Tenant of the Decade award from Montecasino as one of the longest-standing establishments in the Montecasino Complex.
“The restaurant came about in 2000 when myself and three friends modelled the concept off a restaurant in Las Vegas, Nevada. Shortly afterwards, I bought out my partners and ran this piece of heaven in the Italian village of the Casino. I’ve dedicated the last 20 years of my life to growing this restaurant. I’m filled with nothing but pride and joy,” says Tubby Georghiou, owner of Verdicchio.
Through the years, the restaurant has served over 1 million customers. Some notable guests include the 2010 Italian soccer team, the Springboks, the late Zindziswa Mandela and Chef Ainsley Harriot.
The grilled crayfish, Toscana pasta and Beef Carpaccio have always been favourites. On the other hand, Executive Chef Victor Ngwenya recommends the Pasta Granada, one of the restaurant’s signature dishes.
“We use only the freshest ingredients to serve our guests with amazing, seasonal dishes on a regular basis. Our sole aim is to continue winning the hearts of our regulars time and time again,” concludes Tubby.
